Another little bit of progress this evening did a mock with ERW tube for the rear brace trying not to obstruct the carb intake too much, managing to get 100mm shock travel with the swing arm hopefully that will be enough!

Time to get the kids to bed and a wee dram for me to finish the night off!

Another slow day with progress had a couple of visitors too much gossip and drinking tea.

Everything stiffening up nicely now (no pun please)! Most difficult thing is trying to keep everything symmetrical lost it a little at the rear but hopefully this won't be seen as it is covered with the seat unit.

Only four more tubes and I should be able to fully weld this chassis up, hopefully get this done next week.

I had better give the kids some attention seeing as they are on holiday from school may go camping this weekend if weather holds up,but being Scotland I very much doubt it.

Question: The 1/2" tube that I have seen in pictures that crosses from the brace behind the headstock on the lower tubes at what point is that welded. I cant get it to the engine mount or on the opposite side due to the exhaust.How far up from the engine mount is it welded?

Well the Scottish weather played it best card to stop us camping so managed get a couple of hours free today and started welding the frame.

I will have to remove the tube from the front engine mount to the rear head to enable me to fit the bracing tube luckily this is only tacked in place, thought I could get away by removing the short tube at the front but this was not to be. I had given some thought about making the jug able to be rotated but managed to find a way around it!

Nice welds, wish my frame had welds like that.

That's done by Tig welding yours will have been done by Mig, tig can cause more distortion and takes probably three times longer to do hence if producing several frames mig would be the option to go for unless the client is willing to pay for the extra hours spent welding.But you can't beat it for neatness saying that I have seen some top class brazing done on a Rickman reynolds 531 chassis which was a work of art.

I'm confused about the tube you mentioned in your last couple posts. I can't find a tube on my Harris like what you might be talking about. It doesn't take much to go over my head though.

Bill this tube here, I think they are more common on the Thearsby frames. I have all the bracing tubes in now so time to weld completely then work out the subframe.
