I am checking a 750 F1 engine at the moment and have found the following.
Both heads stamped "P"
Horizontal head contains OE cam Vertical head contains MV cam
both have IN 41mm and EX 37mm
any particular significance in this combination?

It all appears stock to me. But, are you sure those aren't stock 35mm exhaust valves? Ducati would not use a 37mm, and I don't think anyone would bother to increase the size of only that valve. MikeV

Hi Dick, I just put the piston pics in for reference . It is mainly the cams I was asking about. I have recently been taking apart 750 sport (1988) engines and dont have any info on cams and their stamps. I of course realise that 750 sport and 750 F1 are different but I was hoping someone could tell me more about cam types..
as for inlet size I may have made a mistake there...will check tomorrow.

Hi, an F1 newbie here. At the moment I have a broken leg, so now I have LOTS of time to start doing some learning. With reference to the B & C pistons, first what are the piston/bore clearance tolerances ? Maybe the A piston is 87.95 ? B is 87.96 C 87.97 ?
Also what is the compression ratio on a stock F1 ? Sean's photo's don't show a side on shot of his pistons to see the piston dome height but they would appear to be higher than a normal domed piston. Which would appear to be a reasonably/slightly high comp. ratio ?
Second thoughts are, is all this information available online ? Or should I buy a book ? If so, which one ? Peter Brown ( hiya Brad )

Peterbike, while it is not perfect, I have got to suggest that anyone interested in these bikes buy Ian Falloon's book "DUCATI Belt-Drive Two-Valve Twins Restoration Guide", and read it many times. The revised edition does not contain the very useful addenda that is in the original, but that is supposedly available on line. Parts books and service manual can't hurt. MikeV

It appears that there are 2 versions of this book, a white one & a blue one. Both say the revised edition, are they the same ? Peter
