Hi I am looking for a better master cyl to improve the front brake, 260mm stainless EBC discs sintered pads and p08 calipers It has a 16mm cyl on from a monster but the pressure required is just too much, I hsve been used to the brake on my 999 just two fingers and I want a similar feel. Any suggestions welcome. I just need to know which way to go. Are the modern adjustable cyl any good for my set up ? Its on track in 2 weeks and I need to make it stop ! Thanks,

Hi Auburn, Forget braking like your 999 with your set up. You've got 260 rotors vs 320 rotors, 2 piston/2 pad calipers vs 4 piston/4 pad calipers, not to mention to difference in master cylinders and probably front tires. You would get better "feel" and modulation with a 15mm master cylinder (check the Vintage Brake "feel" chart). I believe the pistons in the current radial masters are too big for your (4) 38mm pistons, and you'd be going in the wrong direction. Bill

Down. The smaller the master cylinder the easier to squeeze. But the chart tells you the optimum which I think is 21 or 22 percent compared to the size of the added calliper piston size. If you go too small there will be too much lever travel but easy, too big and not much travel but it will be very heavy.

Hi Auburn, I've been trying to figure a way to upgrade your brakes, but you are pretty well locked in because your forks are positioning your calipers for 260 rotors. I do think a 15mm master would be a better choice. I'm assuming you are using good quality braided stainless brake hoses, the system is bled really really good, and your calipers are properly rebuilt with nothing like a stuck piston going on. I have very little experience with stainless rotors/sintered pads, but both items would need to be completely clean. No sign of embedded copper from the pads on the rotors, and the pads not glazed and bedded in per manufactures instructions. Just common sense stuff to be sure the whole system is right. Then, maybe see a hypnotist to dump any memories of how good your 999 stops. Bill

I vote for the 14mm Nissin pump, can't imagine stainless 260s on the track would recommend good rear pads and use them to the fullest also maybe Loris Regianni long classic lines and forget about brakes.
Fun is the priority, ride safe and keep going!

Hi, well after a track day with the 14mm nissin M C , the brake is more powerful I can live with this it has a lot of travel needs bleeding better also! But it STOPS, After rideing it in anger on track I find its not as flickable through the chicane s as I had expected? A light bike 160Kg with 18 inch oscams maybe thats why it likes to go straight. Stable on the long fast stuff . Any input from any one ? Im still learning .
