Started delving into the eBay TT2 I bought. We managed to turn it over and gradually fire it up. The cased were full of old fuel, upside is that at least the internals are clean.

Alas the carbs suffered over the decade plus years of dormant storage

The engine appears stock, however the ADR/VIN list it as an 1984 SL, the castings on the head have Feb 1982 marks so I am sure some surprises are in store. We'll start with a carb overhaul, belts and the usual service items.

The front forks and the rear Marzocchi shock all leak. Is there anywhere where I can get a seal kit/refurb kit for the 35mm Magnesium Marzocchi's, the adjustment knobs also look a little shabby. Also looking for suggestions with the rear Marzocchi it too looks like its seen better days,

Regarding refurbing the outer legs, would soda blast and repainting be the way to go (powdercoat, acrylic or two pack?)
The wheels are Suzuki Katana 750 wheels, front has Brembo discs, the rear the Suzuki, brakes I think are P08's

Swapping out the boxy F1 inspired tank for the more curved TT2 tank

Anyway, this will be slow job as I am still tinkering with the other bikes every now and then.

Don't soda blast magnesium. :?

I understand that it is best to use dry plastic media to blast the old paint off magnesium. Also, the magnesium may need to be resealed with something called chromate or dichromate to resist corrosion. Apparently magnesium corrodes very quickly - e.g. you want to paint them the same day that you stripped them.

Keep them away from moisture. http://www.mb-racingwheels.com/magnesium_protection.htm

Marvic powder coat their wheels so there shouldn't be any issues powder coating your legs. There is a shop in Sydney that restores Ferrari Chromodoro magnesium wheels, they do the chromate sealing process and paint with two pack so 2P would be Ok also.

My experience with acrylic is that it will flake off in a couple of weeks. Don't waste your time.

It looks like a real fun project :D
