Hi folks,

I am looking for Australian contacts to restore some sets of 35mm Magnesium fork legs, magnesium triple clamp and rear wheel.

Been to a few places in Brisbane who are not willing to touch it due to its age (both sets of forks still have oil in them and haven't been exposed to water (whilst in my care at any rate) I would love to have them stripped, re-coated and repainted so I can rebuild them. For the wheel is there anywhere in Australia where I can get the wheel tested

Cheers
Eddy

Hi Eddy,

If you don't have any luck restoring these and want to pass on them please let me know as I have a suitable use for them. I can trade you a set of 750 F1 Marzocchi or Italia Forcella forks, else let me know if you are chasing any other parts.

Cheers,
MikeA

I think we found a solution through local aviation connections :) So we are on track again, getting the magnesium triple clamps refurbed at the same time. Will let you know how this first set turns out

Well forks have been restored, not cheap $1,550 AUD, but they look fantastic.

Work included, strip forks, clean of paint, repair prime and paint fork and triple clamps, hard chrome both legs, replace the seals, fabricated period pinch bolts, fluids, reassemble.

Considering replicas are around $2,700 I can live with that

Bikebuilders in Brisbane organised it all for me. Leith is super helpful, having an original TT2 sitting there is handy as a point of reference

Thankfully the second set are in better shape so I'll just get them , re-sealed and fluids.

Still not sure what the story is with the magnesium triple clamps

Pics of before and after, more in my gallery

Nice!

...the money gets absorbed  pretty quickly when you have hobbies like this!

How did you arrive at the colour you painted them, and what is that colour?

Cheers,
Mike

We use the marzocchi gold from my other legs (and checked them against the factory TT in the workshop)

I'll ask for the paint code when I pick them up and let you know. I am still flummoxed about the triples.

This entire front set up came of a Ikomek (?) TT2
