Post subject:  Eeeek! I think that my legs are too short........!

I'm still at the initial stages of assessing and assembling my TT2 project. What started in the middle of the year has taken me this long to decide to go for Honda RVF400 (NC35) upside-down forks at the sharp end. At least I now have most components to (almost) get the front wheel sitting pretty in the aforementioned NC35 forks. Except that I now have a few qualms about how LONG the forks should be.............

The reason for my uncertainty is that it HAS been mentioned in these pages that IF one decides to go for an USD fork for a TT1/TT2, it should be of the L O N G E R variety. My NC35 forks measure all of 710mm from the top cap (still 50mm dia) to the spindle centre, and my question is: Is this long enough to retain reasonable steering geometry?

Please tell me if this is OK, or should I change my name to Stumpy...................................???

Hi Stumpy, I used 748 forks which are very close to 710mm long using your measuring points. They are ok bu a little longer would be good. A company called Traxxion Dynamics in the US make extension top nuts, but I have only seen these on their site.

Graeme,

Many thanks for ameliorating my qualms re my lower body/gambar region................. ;)

As my project is intended to be a Hyperlight TT2, the knowledge that my legs are not TOO long is of comfort, so any weight-saving is always appreciated.

Next stop: carbon-fibre engine cases................................
