Snow day allowed catching up on some reading. Came across this article that compares the pantah motor to the new scrambler 800. Cranky always likes to see pictures of cranks. Note how the main bearings are now preload and how few balls are in the drive side main. Preload spread over fewer balls creates less bearing deflection? Also interesting that the 350 crank is a pressed up affair but still plain bearing. Alfred Bajohr did this for the bevel twin back in the 1980s. http://www.automototech.com/node/39 |
