..since I have access to a 3D-printer I was wondering if there might be an application for the TT2 - now I've printed my first part.

That has to be the worlds most expensive cable guide. Do you use a cad-cam program to create the virtual model? There's not many plastic parts on the TT bikes, but one day when they can print with aluminium.......

...sure, you don't get this for free. But the mere material costs are below 2$ for this part. And yes, you must be able to operate a 3D CAD software - if you don't have access to a printer you can also order printing parts online - even in differrent alloys of metal. Metal printing is more expensive - especially if you want to buy a printer.

Saw your post about the engine in the TT.

Very cool, I work in aerospace and I am no expert on the technology at all, it will be very interesting where that technology goes. As it evolves there are a lot changes that could happen, the war fighter could build parts in the field, radical groups that shouldn't have the technology could copy things they shouldn't have, for obsolete equipment you can build one off or a handful of items that are out of production, could it decentralize manufacturing? anyone could be building parts, could a sophisticated 3D machine build another 3D machine, some computer security issues too....could someone hack in and get your data, could someone hack in and embed a flaw, etc. They are building titanium parts with them now......this stuff is beyond me.....I will have to stick with the grinder, the drill motor and the hacksaw for now
