Post subject:  Fake magnesium clutch cover

In a moment of boredom i decided to try to make a replica of the hydraulic dry clutch cover used on a few of the early TT2s. So i chucked-up a Paso cover in the lathe and sliced away-it worked-and better than i thought it would. Then i spun it a bit and welded it together again. And after a few hours with a drill and a dremel tool this is what i got. May try some rough paint to make it look like a casting. MikeV

Hey Mike... I do like the way that turned out. Always on the errrr cutting edge for creativity. Where and why did you have to cut and weld it? I'm sure there is some paint treatment available to make it look sand cast.

It was spun to put the fluid holes on top, like the original. I used a sharp blade, rather than a cut-off blade, trying to keep more material; still lost about .040”, but four flat washers will fix that if needed. Most weld is inside. Will probably come back to smooth and fill the gap outside with some aluminum epoxy mix. No Way can i stitch-weld that! MikeV

Nice!

So why did Ducati/Cagiva not position the holes on top like that to begin with?
