Chassis now welded as much as I can with the engine in, hopefully get the wheel and chain alignment done tomorrow and then finish off welding the frame.Starting to buzz now! :D

Hmmm! missed the claimed 7kg :? and I still have the subframe to put on not that it is going to weigh much 7.4kg = 16.3lb for you guys over the other side of the pond.
I have the frame welded and the alignment calculated, I have to machine 7mm from the sprocket carrier for chain alignment and take off 4mm from the caliper carrier to get the wheel aligned.

Chain and rear wheel alignment done today machined the sprocket carrier and the caliper carrier and made a spacer for the drive side. Bolted everything up and then checked the sprocket alignment with a steel rule and could not understand how I had misjudged the my calculations by 4mm.

Disassembled everything and noticed the spigot that passes through the carrier bearings can move freely so I machined another spacer 6mm longer with a pocket machined internally so the spigot fits inside and the spacer and this butts up against the bearing inner race.Problem solved. :)

Hello Sam, keep in mind that some of the Pantah engines had different length sprocket shafts and the sprocket can be in a different position.

From left, 600, 500, new 500 replacement. This caused some head scratching with sprocket alignment.

Gave my carbs a treat this morning they were in a sorry state with lying around in my workshop the past 20yrs so gave them a spa. I picked up an ultrasonic cleaner when I was out and about yesterday the guy said it keeps on cutting out so got it for nothing, turns out there was a small crack in one of the corners which was leaking fluid onto the electrics so I gave it a spread with J weld last night.

First thing this morning I put the jets and delicate things in and gave them a wee blast for half an hour then put in the carb bodies along with some seaweed extract and yak pee great result. Have ordered some spares, gasket sets along with a couple of aluminium bell mouths.:)

Thanks for the advice Graeme I was looking at a 500 main shaft on fleabay as my one was looking a little bit worn. Did not get done what I wanted today due to kids wanting fed and many calls, but it is a rolling chassis now starting to look like a bike well chuffed!

Subframe formed and tacked in place. That took more time than I would give it credit for I had the seat unit balancing on boxes to try and get it in position even had my 7 year old son helping. :)

but have sent it any way along with two black plastic ones( which look crap) Do any of you guys have one lying around which you are willing to part with? I am restricted with what length of bell mouth I can fit and this was the best option.

Made umteen (that's several in Scots) attempts and a complete day messing around at making an electronic heat sink tray for the coils, resistors, tyristor amplifier units and regulator then discovered that 3ohm coils are best sited in an air stream to keep them cool for road use. Ended up the simplest solution was the best solution! :x

Been slow progress since the other half has returned from working away. Started making my tank three times now and after much thought I gave up on how I was approaching making this tank, I have now started on a "buck" to make help in forming the aluminium this will be used as a template when I finally get the desired shape.
I will be able to use the base as a hammer form by clamping the aluminium sheet to the underside of the base by means of another piece of wood them gently beat the aluminium to the shape of the former.Well that's the theory anyway!!

The rear of the tank wont be as high as shown but I may have to pack lots of ply at the rear as there will be a lot of shaping to do the dense insulation is a bugger to grind with a fibre disc it is melting and proving difficult to work with.
