It's shim time and the bike is on the bench partially stripped, I can't get one of the allen screws, that locks the belt tensioner in place, undone. I've gone too far to start the engine and warm the engine. These are the shallow allens so there's not much depth for the Allen to get a good purchase. I've tried a 6mm 1/2 inch socket on an impact driver but don't want to hit it too hard. Any ideas? Next thing will be to cut a slot in the head of the Allen and try a flat blade in the impact driver as the Allen is nearly rounded. . Graeme. (edit) Got it out, thanks.

This is a problem I encounter every time that I buy a bike here in Philippines.............................

Pinoy mechanics LOVE to graunch down bolts so that mere mortals can no longer remove 'em.................best is to give the part a few days of WD-40 (just to show that you mean business!), then take a cold chisel and try to bash at the fixing radially until it starts to move. Attack the bolt alternatively at "12 o'clock" then "6 o'clock" until you notice some movement. If the fixing has a head, this SHOULD get it to move. I ALWAYS use a cold chisel for such problems, and NEVER an impact driver.......................... ;)

Thanks Poison, yes, the cold chisel is how I ended up getting it out. And the new ones went in with never sieze.
