Thanks Mike!
I was in the shop doing a couple of small jobs, knurling is one of those jobs that is 99 percent luck!

I ordered some fittings from the UK for the anti-dive valve/brakeline arrangement. They weren't an exact fit but a little trip to the lathe and I am hoping they work. I trimmed down the top and bottom, at least they were 10x1mm. Lou

Since there is so much excitement with my project, I'll continue to post! Lol. The brake fittings are done, just waiting for the new hardware and I will finish the anti-dive and brake system overhaul. While waiting, I decided to try and make the bell mouth plugs. This first attempt was just a proof of concept as I would like it to have a slightly tighter fit and since the tapped hole is so shallow I want to get a bottoming tap for it. Made a 7.60mm dowel in the lathe and then tapped a 4x.7mm hole used a #30 drill bit. The depth of the tap is tricky as you don't want the threads showing. Fit's pretty well. I hacksawed a slot in the top so I can tighten the plug down. Then I will cut down and smooth out. At least that's what I hope will work. Lou

Nice work Lou,
The last 10% of any build always takes 90% of the time. (at least it does for me)

Thanks Graeme! Very true. Most of these bikes are never really finished. This particular bike has been difficult as I couldn't get out of my own way sometimes. I put it aside for a while, as the front end was fighting me. Finding parts, making parts. Starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel. Reno Leoni will turn 90 next year! This bikes been around since 1982. Over 40 years! As Carlo always says 'we are only caretakers'. This is a picture, of a picture I saw in Reno's garage in Bologna when I visited him years ago.I'm still trying to track down the original dry break on the tank. I think I know where it is! Hopefully I'll be able to obtain it. Lou

That's better! I used the freshly rebuilt calipers on this bike. Will rebuild the other set for the Ghost bike. I'll try and bleed everything this week. Hopefully it's not a brake fluid fountain. Lou

Yes, a lot of opportunities for the slippery stuff there Lou. I also noticed the unique way of bolting the caliper adapters on - with the bolt heads on the inside of the stanchions? MikeV

Cut the excess by using a handheld hacksaw, filed it down, then sand paper. I''ll use some finer paper and polish. Seems okay. I used red loctite to hold the screw to the dowel, blue loctite to hold the screw to the carb body and green loctite on the dowel in the bore. Maybe overkill, but hey the thought of this dowel going into the carb scares me! Lou
