No. Rumor has it that Alan Cathcart has those carbs. Do you remember how it was painted when you saw it? Tricolor or red?

With two bevel twin restorations and Yellow Bike III underway in the shop, the DB1's in my office along with the TT1. The bodywork went down to Robbie Nigl for paint last weekend; met him at Bill Swensen's place in Vermont and hung out for a few hours.

The project's in its final stages now; with just a bit of final chassis fitment, cam timing and plumbing to attend to. The motor's a Montjuich with full-zoot, Stage-4 headwork, Monty cams and a 790 kit, so it should make the same power as the TT1. It's a totally impractical & ridiculous machine (note the hole I had to drill in the bodywork to access the rear carb tickler), but I love it.

My knee's 100%, so I'm looking forward to a busy season on the track (including a few rounds of the P89 racing in New Hampshire).

Bill, I'm pretty sure the tank was red.The fairings and seat were off of it. I was more looking around for secret bevel stuff he might have had lying around. I couldn't even afford to dream about a 4 valve.

That's interesting. We're trying to decide which paint scheme to use. If it was red later in the period when he was actually still racing that bike, all red would be my choice. I just think the single color tones down how clunky that first generation 851 bodywork looks. If the carbs were on it, he was still racing it.

Hi Bill,
I saw your bike when Jimmie and Reno were up testing at a LRRS race between AMA Pro-Twins races. The tank was off so we went over to look at it. We were suprised to see carbs! Not 100% sure but I remember it was red, not tri-color. We heard Reno was frustrated with the fuel injection so was trying the carb setup. He entered HW Supertwins Expert but luckily pulled in before the checkered flag. It seemed to run good.

Great to see you bringing it back to life.

And Steve good to here that knee is better and your P-89 plan.

All these pictures look great especially in the dead of winter.

However I DO have an extenuating circumstance in that I've been "tuning the cylinders", but as yet, only ONE photo from "'er indoors"..............once I get good piccies from BOTH pots, I'll be regaling you with Round One of my Hyperlight TT2 long-term erection...............

650SL Pantah restoration project.
Seemingly the longest restoration in history (err 10+ years...).
Long and boring back story about racing a 600SL, blowing it up, building a 705cc racer, and acquiring this 650SL as a parts bike to help with the 705cc racer build.
It was already monoshocked when I got as a 'barn find'.
It has 38mm forks, 300mm full-floating discs on the front, Allazurra wheels, dry clutch, 260mm full-floating disc on the rear, ported heads with ST2 front cams, adjustable pulleys.
I've got the swingarm etc on since this photo, and am putting in the dry clutch at the moment. But I keep getting distracted with other things, restoring the 600SL, new job, rebuiling my ST4, holidays, riding the 916 Senna, etc etc.
Might have it finished some time next year, I hope.
