Ok, here is the Answer.

Would you believe that the Front Cylinder was running too Cold because.... wait for it... It was running Too LEAN?

Yup, can anyone explain how that is possible? I did research the reason and found out why.

ALSO, the brand new 40mm DellOrto carb had its float fill up on the same Cylinder

After I learnt that the issue was the COLD cylinder... with no idea what to do next I proceeded to the inlet manifold and discovered that the manifold nuts were loose! See picture of blasted O ring below.

The float issue was introduced AFTER I first learnt I had an issue with Engine Temperature. You can only imagine how many times an amateur mechanic that I am swapped the carbs to try make a difference, but always the front running colder.

Hi Mike...
A leaky manifold was my guess, but on the hot cylinder. So how much kit would be required to just do the upgraded ignition? I like the accuracy, single pick up, no lost spark, and the fact it goes in the original ignition location and not on the cam pulley. Does it work with the stock coils? Will a digital tach be necessary?
Regards...

Yup, that was the conundrum, the lean cylinder was the cooler one, which went against the "lore surrounding two strokes melting pistons etc"

Once I learnt what was happening I designed this chart to explain it.

Have a crack at interpreting it and let me know what happened. ;)

Download the PDF for a clearer image of the chart.

For the Hi Definition Ignition only you will require the following:

- New Inductive Coils, you no longer need your Bosch or Kokusan CDI units.
- Multi-tooth trigger wheel, sensor & sensor bracket
- CPU & wiring harness
- Bluetooth module if you want to use your Smartphone as a Tacho.
- MAP sensor.

The PC and Smartphone apps are free.

I have been setting up the PC app today. I have some mapping to sort out as AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) is showing up as Lambda (a different way of saying AFR) and the scales are wrong... then onto the next thing...

Ok......you guyz are confusing me on the hand held dyno reading. Doesnt your readout say that the AFR on the rear is 14.xx and the front is 11.xx. I thought that meant parts of air to fuel  . Isnt the front cylinder richer at 11/1?? No matter why?, air leaks, wrong float bowl settings, combinations of issues, etc.

Hello Mike

I’ve had one of those new black top carbs with the white floats stick the float down when the carb was warm
There isn’t enough clearance between the float and the alloy lugs the axle pin fits into.
File the plastic float swing arm so it has some side clearance to the alloy lugs.
Worth checking

Graeme

I am perplexed.

MikeA: you had a lot of things going on there.

Hi Mike...
So, is there a reason why Dyna coils can't be used with your system? Will the CPU have a rev limiter feature?

On the lean cyl. being the cold one, consider that with the loose manifold the cylinder is drawing air from around the manifold and not pulling fuel through the carb jets. The mixture is too lean to burn and thus produces no heat. Did it sound flat when you were running it up?
