Well, we have taken over a Ducati site with a Guzzi. But that is damn cool! You do make the bike look svelte, and they are compact. MikeV

I have so many stories regarding racing in the late70's and early 80's. Two involve ex pro Richard Chambers. He rode TZs 250. 350 and 750 owned by the owner of a truck stop in Virginia. Richards van broke down near my house on his way to a race at Sannaire in Canada. I offered to put his bikes in my van and take him to the track. It was a cold and rainy weekend and his bikes stayed in the van at night while we slept under the truck. When we got back to NY he discovered holes in the top of at least 3 or 4 pistons in his van. He took them out and we took them to a welder I knew who welded up the tops and away he went. Another time we did an endurance race together on my 750SS at Loudon sponsored by AAMRR. After refueling the gas cap came loose with gas spilling all over the bike. Richard took a couple of wrenches , went into the pits and came back with a brand new 900SS metal tank. We bolted it on and off he went. Toward the end of the race he laid the bike down putting a nice dent in the tank. He finished the race and later gave the tank back to the owner that he 'borrowed' (the owner never knew) and $20 for fiberglass patch. The look on the guys face was unbelievable. Richard was the only guy I knew that could get away with it.
Lou - Is the Fritz you mentioned in an earlier post from out west?

Hi Frank, are you Frank D from upstate NY? Did Marty Yanerilla buy your old racing bevel with Dymag wheels? Fritz Augustine, currently lives in Colorado, lived in Long Island after moving from Germany many years ago. Hey Mark, here is the Guzzi, drilled mags and all. Lou

Yup, that's me. I think Fritz now has my old race bike. I wondered if he ever got to ride it. After making mods to the motor, I never got a chance to run it.

Wow Frank, we met many years ago. I think I went to your house to pick up that bike, or maybe met you at Marty's! Small world! Glad to see you're on the Forum. Yes I have hauled your old bike at least twice to where it now lives in Trinidad Colorado. It is a nicely prepared machine. Lou

Lou - Talk about a small world. A guy who lived across the street from me for two years came riding down my driveway yesterday on a beautiful V7 Sport just like one I bought new in '74. I never knew he lived there. And he restores old Italian bikes. Here's one.

Moto Guzzi V7 Sport Telaio Rosso, one of first 150 V7 Sports made specially built in the race shop. Most collectable of the range by far. Lino Tonti was a brilliant engineer. Frankfast if you are who I think you are I still have Ducati 750 SS # 075341.

Hi Mark - Been a long time. Still have pictures that you sent me of my old bike. Do you still have your collection in the barn? Hope you're well and staying clear of the virus now that we're of the most vulnerable.
