Yes, the snow is gone.

We had our first DOCC event at Calabogie (an hour west of Ottawa, Canada) this weekend and although the weather threatened to drown us out - we managed a fair bit of dry track time. My body was far from ready for the equivalent of 46 squats every 1 min 45 seconds or so, but the TT1 performed brilliantly right out of the gate. A little fiddling with suspension adjustment, but for the most part, the thing worked exactly as it should have.. Gobs of motor, too - so a big round of thanks to Palmer and Cranky for all their help through the project. Fran McDermott made my life miserable by being untouchable for the first time in maybe 10 years. The old fart was simply flying on his TT1 (which at this point, has been in constant use on the track for the past 15 years or so). I sent him out on mine late Sunday (I was too sore to ride anymore - and frankly, just fed up with not being able to catch him) and he pronounced it "just fine" - which is high praise indeed.

Gilles LaChance showed up with a wonderful F1A that was built for superbike racing back in the day by a Quebec dealer and his work on bringing the old machine back to life was truly impressive. A great looking machine that worked well and sounded fantastic.

Lots of cycling and workouts in the gym required if I have any hope of enjoying the TT..

In this video http://youtu.be/2AEibE7tT3c, you'll see my TT1 (0:08) followed by Fran's (0:13) - both running well with the modern stuff..

Yeah, Pat - I can barely walk.. I don't think I've been this out of shape in my life.

Gotta be fit to go fast.

Hey Pat ..... you have noticed that the track is wet only close to the motion of Steve?

Maybe he did the shampoo to the motorcycle before entering the circuit?

Hey Steve! I'm just jealous! Congratulations, nice bike! The curve a little less beautiful!

with Friendship Carlo Leoncini.

I am glad your TT runs as good as it looks Steve. It certainly turned out well; and your standards are certainly high.

And that is one of the nicest F1s (a 1985 A, I think) that I've seen in a while. A Loudbike exhaust on there too?

Steve,

The TT is lovely, like all of your projects. I was lucky to have my F1 running for this weekend. Minor details like paint were luxuries that had to wait.

Hey Carlo - thanks for the compliment (I think..) I'll work on the curve..

Mike - Yeah, that F1 is a really nice example. And yep - that's a loudbike exhaust. We all passed the 95db limit, but I had to run 6 discs instead of 10 given the bigger bangs my motor was making.

Geoff - thanks! Don't feel bad; the paint was still tacky when I first took it out last year.

Next stop: Dyno in 2 weeks for the Yellow Bike III and the DB1 custom.

What weekend Geoff? I thought we were going to do something together some time! MikeV

PS: Geoff was skilled enough, and kind enough (for a nominal sum), to bore a Pantah case for 750cc cylinders for me.

MikeV,
