Post subject:  TT1 project update..

I posted a quick update on the TT1 and DB1 projects on my blog last week at http://loudbike.blogs.com/loud_bike/2012/05/ducati-750-tt1-and-bimota-db1-sr-builds.htmland thought I'd add a bit more stuff here..

Last weekend, I finally got the motor assembled and dropped the new DM fame onto it so I'm finally at the point where I can start permanently bolting stuff together.. The motor is based on Lon Allen's old racer; rebuilt by Palmer with a set of F1 pistons that he had modified for a semi-bathtub application. The heads are the converted Alazurra now with NCR#7's and 42/36 valves as per CrankyRoller's recipe. Lightened primaries, basket and flywheel and Mikuni Pro Series 41's. The front end (seen on the exhaust mule below) is off the old Allen racer as well and the swing arm from Shannon's old F1 - the Marvics and brakes are from my old 853 F1 and the fairing is a Romanelli copy from back in the day. The front fender's Bimota DB1 SR, the electrics panel is factory TT1 and the rear sets / rear caliper hanger from Mr. Leoncini. Clip ons are early 851 Corsa and the shock from Stadium. This bike has a bit of just about everybody I know in it and it's all Lou's fault.

A huge shout-out goes to Palmer and the Cranky One for their tireless telephone support as I struggled to remember how to do things I haven't done for almost 10 years.

At this point (wiring aside), it's a matter of bringing the rest of the bit's back from Montreal where the mock-up TT1 has been tied up while we built the jigs for the exhaust systems. Last night was a milestone 'cause I picked-up the replicas of Lou Saif's factory TT1 exhaust system (in stainless and mild steel) and did a final fit up of the TT1 version of the Weber F1 silenced race exhaust. loudbike's now officially in the exhaust business - although we won't formally announce until this weekend...

With the exhaust jigs to be completed this week, I can finally get down to putting the machine together this weekend and hopefully be on the dyno in two weeks..

We're doing another batch of the 3 TT1 systems this month (the first run has pretty much sold-out), so please PM me if you need one..

Regards,

Hey Steve,
This project looks like it took 15 years, but it has only been a few months since we've seen you. Now we know what you do all winter in the great white north. Good going!

Good to see how things progress, and change, and get revised as something is built Steve. I can see it coming together though, and it will be as nice as all your past bikes. Also great to have these photos posted to keep the interest up for the group. MikeV

Thanks for all the compliments guys! Carlo, I can't wait to hear it's voice as well.

But you know how it is with a small business; I've only been getting time in the shop on the weekends, so it's been very slow going.

Two weeks and I hope to be able to push the starter button..
