I only met Mark Smithard recently at the NJMP Symposium. A few weeks before the event he asked if we would include his Triumph Trident with race history (it was beautiful) and his incredible Crighton. I said absolutely! Not everyone shows up when they commit to an event, but he was a man of his word. Drove from Louisiana and dropped off the two incredibly beautiful and expensive machines. While he wasn't racing he would come over to the tent to chat about bikes and racing. A real enthusiast and a gentleman. I just heard this morning he was killed in a sidecar crash. I only knew him for just a small amount of time, but I liked him and figured we would have more good times together. Sadly life was too short for Mark. Rest in peace. Lou
