Just made it home from Barber... Very happy with the way things went! I wanted to thank all the people that helped make it possible for me to go to Barber. Lou Saif (has he ever NOT helped someone that needed it?). Thanks for the advice, parts, and encouragement... Your first "symposium" planted the seed and that initial trip up to Bruce Meyers to get the frames was a great way to kick things off. "This is all your fault!" Steve D'Angelo - thanks for masking all my terrible wiring, awful detailing of the motor, and other bits that didn't have time for polishing. Your paint jobs are amazing and your dedication to OTHER people's goals is most admirable. Marty Voelker - for putting up with my Barber-eve freak-out and spending 30 hours in the truck with me. And for being my crew at the event... running back and forth to the truck and working on the bike when you could've been watching the races... Thank you. CrankyRoller (Mike Weber) for spending many hours over the past 2 years discussing the bike with me, gathering and providing parts/advice/instruction. You've always been very generous with your vast knowledge and skills. I never would've attempted this without your help. I can't thank you enough. And not that my wife and kids read this site, but I can't write this without thinking about them... my wife's sacrifice to give me the time to get ready for the event... it was a tremndous burden on her, but she did it without complaint ...only encouragement and support. There are others out there (many on this site) that helped in other ways - thank you too... this was a great experience (that isn't over - I now get to refine this great machine) ...and I look forward to sharing that experience with you all too - but at a slower pace! And thanks to the event organizers. I'm sure they had many hurdles they had to overcome to put on an event like this and they did a great job (namely Vicki Smith and her crew for Ducstock and Loudbike Steve for getting our TT's and F1's a place to gather and be celebrated!) It was great meeting many of you forum people this weekend.... Hope to see you all soon. (Now let's see some pics!) |

Hey Scott, thanks for the kind words. The bike was a beauty! It was great to see her come together at the track on Monday. I just got home this afternoon from Barbers and went straight to my 'real' job. I'm beat but feel so lucky to have been with so many wonderful people enjoying a mutual passion for TT's and F1's. Special thanks to my travel buddy and friend Ralf Stechow. Pat Slinn, Roy Thersby, Reno Leoni, Syd Tunstall, Paul Smart, Cook (hope your feeling better), Jason Disalvo, Gary Patton, Rich Paxton, Jerry Dean, VJ, Ron Spordone, Mike Weber, and many more people I can't recall right now that raced and lived Ducati TT's and F1's back when they were new. The conversations started in the morning and didn't end till late at night. Recalling old racers, race bikes and tuners. As Steve Munro kept saying over and over 'this is magic' and he was correct. Thanks to Steve and Emilia from Loudbike for their tireless efforts in setting up our 'TT Village'. I promise the guys on the forum that you will be seeing a ton of photos and you will be hearing a lot of stories once everyone is home safe and has a good nights sleep. Just a few more names that made the event special, Mike Vogt for bring his number 8 replica all the way from Oregon, that brought a tear to Pat Slinn's eye, Steve Dangelo for painting what seemed like every bike at the event, Carlo Leoncini for being even nicer than his wonderful emails, and his beautiful parts that he sends us. A special thanks to a person I have wanted to meet for many years. His presence at 'Ducstock' took the event to another level. His legendary race tuning only dwarfed by his deeds with foster children. Pat, I think I can speak for all the guys in our group of friends and Forum members, you are a treasure, and we were all blessed to meet you. Thank you for your generosity and patience. Giving us your time and knowledge and traveling so far to be a part of our gathering. I hope we can do it again. Lou |

23 hours of driving and we're exhausted, but I woke up at 3AM still buzzed from the trip.. I wish to add my thanks to all involved in making that incredible event happen. I never had time to leave the pits and visit the Ducstock area except for when we arrived late Wed. afternoon, so if you took any pictures at the event PLEASE post them. That was a great time, thank you. Bill |

Hey, Bill - That was the only down-side to the event: It would have been much better if we had been in the pits. I only got down there Saturday evening, so I missed most of what was going on. I was so busy at Ducstock that I only caught one race (fortunately the big one...). Which leads to a hearty "Congratulations to you and Robbie" for a hard-fought 3rd Place in F3 on your TT2! |
