Hi Guys, it's cold and crappy here in NYC, but I just received some great old photos of my TT1 in all her glory. The track is in Chile. Lou

;) Hey Lou,
when you say 'glory days', what year do you mean? Looks to be mid 90's? Is that you, the young strapper with the saucy umbrella girl? Hope it's not the wife? Sorry.
What rims are on the bike?

Cheers for the memories!

Steve

Hi Steve, what year is that Kawasaki? Looks new for the early 90's. No not me, his name was Gianni Barbieri. His Dad was the original owner of the bike. He also had a bevel NCR 900, a 600TT2 and a one off NCR bevel sidecar! He was originally from Bologna and was personal friends with NCR. Sadly the younger Barbieri passed away at a very young age and his father has just passed away. The friend and second owner of the bike received pictures from his wife and he forwarded them to me. I never met the original owner, but I was lucky enough to communicate with him through Mitch Velokovitch the second owner. Mitch told me they had lost track of the bike many years ago. When I found them and told them about the bike, and sent them pictures he told me the 'old guy' cried. He also told me the bike was the wrong color (I had painted it red/blue because I didn't know any better). They told me it was red and silver the NCR colors not the Ducati colors. They said it was beautiful but I knew they were pissed! Needless to say I stripped and re-painted it the proper colors (everyone said I was crazy). I am still trying to replicate the original livery as a tribute to the original owner. Never met the guy but I was really sad about his passing. I had invited him to Barber for Ducstock (the Symposium and 30th TT anniversary). I also extended a few parade laps to Mitch as he was the second owner but sadly they couldn't make it. Our bikes are special but it's the people that make them come alive. Lou

Cracking open an old post, after 11 years. These period pictures are great, but today I found a racing video of my TT1 in Chile 1986. Spoiler alert, she passed the Honda and won the race. Turns out the rider/owner of my bike was a South American champion. It takes a lot of time and good luck to find out stuff sometimes, but it's so rewarding when you do find it. I still need to find out more about the memorial race. I think it was October of 2024! Lou

Finally, I can sign in again, Lou. The race reminded me of a football game where the team that scores last wins. In this case the bike that doesn’t crash wins - your bike! MikeV
