Interesting bike. Does anyone know what clutch that is, and is it hydraulic or cable operated? I can't spot a cable lever where I would think one should be (like a NCR). Also looks like there's a second hose running down to the rear caliper torque rod. What would that be?

Hey Bill, the clutch is a GPM which I think are cable operated like the NCR, although the internals are completely different. As for the second hose, battery breather would be my guess. Lou

Hello Guys, Lou is absolutely right, the dry clutch is a GPM, and the small tube that goes down is the battery vent.

Lou Well said!

Of course, the vent tube....how quaint. Found this when Googling for GPM info:

Two more questions that maybe can be as easily explained. Is that a small tail light attached to the rear facing surface of the seat bodywork? The square shaped item under what appears to be a round Championship Cup Series decal. I know for a while the AMA rules required a tail light on some bikes, which only needed to be a non-working empty shell. The other item is the black circular shaped "thing" in the inside of the nose of the front fairing. Almost looks like a thin headlight body. Was this bike maybe also set up for endurance racing? Or is that simply the backside of something covering the headlight opening in the 900ss front fairing?

This bike was sitting next to it. I can't remember which one he raced, but was protested anyway by Trevor Dunne as not being a "modified legal" bike. Trevor finished 4th and lost the protest.

Long time to an answer here but.....yes, that is a small taillight per the rules. That is a purpose built single layer front fairing, no hole to cover....I think it did have a small headlight shell stuck in there for a while. There were two of those bikes, factory sourced Endurance motors in Verlicchi frames. One had a GPM clutch, the other a NCR, although we swapped them around enough! Raced the previous year by Dick Winningstad. It was skitterry below 40 and just flew down the corkscrew!
