Cosworth Quantel? Is that what they called it? Thanks for the diversion. Lou

Lou.... you gave a mind like a steel trap! I did a search and had a great read on its history. Björn, thanks for posting such great photos from your archives. Paul

Spot on Lou! I think that Roger Bennett rode it back then. The engine is massive, and the sound was great. If I remember correct! Lets leave with a bang, some photos of the only real Ducati Hot Rod after the Imola 750 and TT2/TT1: the Supermono! /Björn

File comment: This was the first Supermono I saw. A German that raced in Anderstorp in 1993. Cant remember his name though.

File comment: Robert Holden, at Assen in 1994. Makes people turn their heads... :)

File comment: A slightly crashed one at Assen from 1994. The front wheel you see on the left was also a Supermono. I dont know what Garage Helferich was, or is, but I suspect these are the ones that later where raced in the Netherlands by Evert van der Beek.

File comment: This one belonged to Chris Clarke Motorcycles from the UK, photo taken at either Thruxton or Oulton Park in 1995.

File comment: This one is from the Over Racing workshop, photograhed in early 1996.

File comment: This one belongs to a friend of mine, he actually has two. He raced it for some years and was European Supermono champion, but cant remember which year. I heard there was Danish guy that had three Supermonos, but dont know if it is true.

1988 or 1989 I raced (or better : was on the same circuit) with Marc Granie on a factory TT1 and Roger Marshall on the Quantel at Francorchamps. Only Eric VD on one of the first real Superbike 851 was able to follow those guys. Granie lapped me at Blanchimont just before taking a win. Think Roger was second, Eric third, A Montjuic fourth and Richard Swallow fifth. So I never really heard the Quantel go by The TT1 did Great times ciao ducadini

Thanx for posting these up and the education...... On the Quantel Cosworth's, I did not realize that this was a resurrected/warmed over Norton/Cosworth engine from the 70's, right?? I wonder how many of these engines exist today?

Quote: That is a great memory! Where are your photos from those days? /Björn Since I was out racing and only had a Praktina reflex camera (nothing auto focus/lighting/speed) my girlfriend never made any really good pics. I have some statics though, stashed somewhere in storage. Another two months and my new "carriere" begins and I have plenty of time I thought the Quantel was lost in the fire at the National museum ? Being stored between magnesium wheels and engines isn't very good when it get's hot. ciao ducadini
