Willow Springs is THE coolest track! Do you know how the riders are or the date? Bill |

Maybe ? 1987 AFM Six Hour Race at Willow. #714 is La Carrera winner Duanne Summers and #37 Gary Patton |

I've been trying to figure out those bikes. Both fairings appear to be "B" with white and with the "elephant", but they both have what looks like the later front fender. Summers has two red wheels (Oscams?) and Patton has gold and white wheels. A six hour race would have to require tire changes. I have no experience with the later front fender, does it make wheel changing a lot easier/faster than the "B" style fender? Bill |

IIRC, Duane rode a Montjuic, don't know about Gary. Duane might have a Montjuic fender on his, hard to see. Gary definitely has what appears to be a later fender, like what came on the Nuovo Sport in '89-'90. Or a Paso fender, if he put some M1R's on a "B" model. My '87 F1B was a late model, it came with a Montjuic fender and a sidestand. . |

The La Carrera/Cycle World bike? Sidestands are handy. How does the front wheel go in and out with the later fender on, and how does the fender mount? Bill |

The Monty fender on mine is a 2 piece, the later fender off the Nuovo Sport was a one piece as I recall. It was quite wide as it fit over the 16" Paso wheel as used on the Sport. . |

The transmission had a problem so it didn't finish. Fred Eiker, Duanne Summers, Gary Patton rode the #37 bike, we each got a turn before it wouldn't shift out of gear. |

Robbie and I got to be friends with Fred when we were doing the AHRMA circuit a few years back. Super good guy and a lot of fun to hang out with. Makes excellent coffee. Rather fast as well. He's running his Norton at Bonneville now. Last I heard he had a crash there, but is o.k. Bill |

Fred Eiker won the AMA Modified Twins class two years in a row at Daytona on a Guzzi. Very fast, out ran Jimmy Adamo at Willow Springs in 1987 on Bryan Smith's Ducati F1. |
