A good start to the new year, after some frustration a month or so ago I finally got the motor buttoned up.

You better do a nut and bolt check before Carlo sees this! MikeV

No worries Mike!
Still a long way to go before it goes in, ls couple of tensioner bearings to find (smaller od), clutch …. The list goes on

The pantah motor......just looks the business!!! I think I like it even better than a bevel. Its a short stocky looking hunk of metal. Although the bevel when all polished up has some bling to it and a classic look.

Wrench on......

A little update, i replaced the square tooth pulleys with round tooth, installing the belts which is now easier I noticed that there wasn’t much if any adjustment on the vertical tensioner.
I decided not to grind away part of the belt guard but replace the bearings on the tensioner with smaller od bearings.
Finding the bearings was bit of a challenge but I managed to find some in France.
Photos tell the story better
Photo below shows the difference in diameter

Hi Huit...
What is different from the square tooth set up that created the problem? Shorter belts , pulleys larger in diameter? Why isn't this a problem with the engine that the belts and pulleys originally came from.

Flattop,
The motor is a stroker so the belts are pretty hard to get on because of the increased height of the cam pulley.
The square tooth pulleys have what I will call a flange at the end making it harder again where the round tooth pulleys are open making it easier to slide the belt on.
The motor was originally using square tooth belts, I like the modern belts as the tooth had better( more) contact.
Nothing wrong with the square tooth belt!
I just preferred to update.
Paul
