Hi, just joined. Glad to have found this forum.
I'm the guy with a very early Thersby TTF2. It's been out of use for a very long time, much too long. One of the reasons was it wouldn't start reliably on the button, though it would bump-start. I quickly got fed up with that and put it away.
Years later I decided to do a big lump strip down for a deep clean. When I removed the carbs I was astonished to find carbon in the inlet tracts! A Ha!
Just before I encountered the starting issues I'd had the valves shimmed by a REPUTABLE Ducati specialist. Unfortunately I never considered the valve job had been bodged, as I trusted the guy who did it. Consequently after checking everything else I'd been baffled. Strangely, I'd always done the shimming myself before without any problems. Serves me right I suppose.
Anyway, the bike is still in remarkably good condition (after over 30 years since I had Roy build it) and hope to get my finger out and get it back into commission in the not too distant future.
The trouble is I'm more than 30 years older and not as well preserved!

Welcome Alex! Looks like a great machine. Best of luck getting her going. Oh and by the way none of us are the same as 30 years ago. I didn't age like a fine wine, more like bread, crusty. Lou

Hello Alex, and welcome . Good place for friendly folk and good information here.

Your picture brings back memories of when we met at John's house in Snaith . I don't remember if I had my TT2 then.

salut,

Dick

Nice, color-coordinated, breather hose Dick. Never enough red, eh?

Never Mike , and a couple of years later I was touching the red pipe on some warm tarmac .

A Verlicchi design which touches along the entire length instead of digging in

First, thanks for joining Alex, and for the photo of the Theresby TT. Roy was trying to form a registry of these (25) a few years back, so you might contact him.

Then, Dick, I see that the shock spring is also red. But, what about the wheels? Honestly, thanks for this photo too, which I will add to my collection.

Hi Alex - great bike. Don't know if you are UK based, if so, not by any chance the Thersby Ducati which used to turn up at Olivers Mount in the mid-80's for free Italian Owners Club "parade" laps - followed closely by my Montjuich? I guess there's 25:1 chance it is!
