From here, Lou, it sure looks like that side cover is a recast of the early manual pull cover, modified for hydraulics. I see the filler at the top but off-center, the two bolt holes on top are not sunken, not centered, and the lugs around them are wider than normal, heavy-looking DUCATI, and thicker letters at the “max oil level”. Just does not “look” stock. MikeV

Looks like it is a stock cover after all. Picture came from the 600SL manual. Oddly the same manual shows the small alloy clutch for this engine, whereas the 600TL I have, has the same cover but came with the larger steel basket clutch. The filler cap was relocated for the Alazzurra and a return to the shrouded case screws.

Yes Flattop, it appears to be a stock cover, but two things that are odd. I think they machined the lip that butts against the cases. It is not raised like the original. They also milled down the filler part that is raised. The other strange thing is that the filler cap hole is not centered like the original. Is yours like that? Also this has the larger, latter clutch basket right up against the inner cover. I want to take it apart but I just put in fresh oil and am too lazy! Can you take a few pictures of yours? I don't know about deserving, but thanks for the kind words Bjorn! Lou

Hi Lou...
Here is a picture of mine. Filler cap not perfect either. It does look like the hydraulic run on yours has been pared down a bit. (sharper corners) The raised portion of the cover is narrower around the back, then widens out to too match the face of the belt covers. You would think that with all the TL's that were supposedly sacrificed to make TT2's there would be more examples.
Regards...

Nothing more fun than finding an old photo of a bike you now own! I was on the Bevel Heaven site looking at some of the gallery photos and randomly came upon my bike. A lot nicer looking then. Lou

Hey,
I think you should start a photo library of all the bikes you have restored/worked on or touched.
It would be a great library!
