What cams do you use in your race engine?

Below is a link to Brad's bike boy site on the different Ducati cams.
I don't think he would mind me adding his link here as it's available on the web.
He has some very interesting things on his site and it must have taken ages to document it all.

Graeme,

The race bike, which is the one Steve has now has V2-216 cams which were the same grind as the original V2-212, but V2 changed the grind on the later 212 cams and they have the specs of the V2-300 cams they make for the DS1000. The cam profile of the V2-216 cams make really good power and made about 3 hp more the the late model 900 fuel injection cams.

Mega Cycle has been working on copying the V2-216 cams I had for about 2 years now and I heard Monday that they were shipping me a set to try. Hopefully Mega Cycle smoothed out some of the problems that I had with the V2 cams fit and finish and made some improvements. This cam should be a little more modern in design and cam profile without having the hugh overlap that the NCR7 or old style F1 performance cams had.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for such a late post. It took me awhile to clear my mind and find my carb jetting records. ;)

My F1 has big valves 42 IN/39EX, NCR7 cams, flowed heads and compression 11.8:1 My carbs are TM41 and have worked great for 20 years with no problems ( except hard to twist with my weak arms!)

Street setup with GiaCaMoto baffled exhaust and UNI foam air filters:
Main jets = 230
Needle clip = 3rd from bottom
Pilot jets = 40
Needles = 6FJ40

Race setup with open megaphone exhaust and no air filters:
Main jets = 250
Needle clip = 2nd from bottom
Pilot jets = 35
Needles = 6FJ40 (same as street)

Hope this helps but might be too late.
Rich

Thank you Rich, good information is never too late.

You say that they are a heavy pull on the throttle?
That is the main reason I am looking at changing the 40mm Dellorto's.
Perhaps I need to go to a wrist gym?

Regards
Graeme
