How could you possibly have more fun with your F1 than re-mounting the front fender and wheel with a stiff 120/80 (un-inflated even) tire on it, in a dimly lit garage where the temperature is hovering in the 30's, with a rickety scissors jack under the horizontal cylinder?

More fun than that?

Driving 14 hours each way to visit Palmer and watch him turn a perfectly good F1 frame into something that handles and weighs a bunch less.

..The cookies were good, too.

The fun starts when you are trying to build a F2 motor in the back of a Fiat Daily transporter when the driver is weaving in and out of the traffic on a motorway, because you are running late for a ferry !, Somehow I miss those days ?.

Instead of whining, I should have been looking on the bright side. I HAVE a F1 to work on, got it done, and have a willing springer spaniel to thaw out my fingers on. And Pat, you weren't doing that on an open trailer - right? I did stumble onto a way to make getting those fender screws in a little easier. Took out the l/h axle spacer and slid the axle to the right to get the axle shoulder more toward the slider. This allows the wheel to slide slightly more each direction while you're working with the fender screws. I'm probably the last one to figure that out though.
