This is not a new idea. I remember seeing something like this 20 years ago when F1B 40mm Forcella Italia fork seals were getting scarce. Gave up on getting into the German website - too many steps followed by Captcha - and have heard of the high cost and shipping. So, these are a set of aftermarket (Ariete) 40mm seals and separate dust wipers. Trouble is the diameter of the dust wipers is too big to fit into the cup, so turned those down by hand on my bench grinder. And, 8mm thick oil seals, instead of 10mm, must be used to make contact with the threads; otherwise, they never get started. Not stock, not pretty, but this solved my leaky forks problem. MikeV

Nice to know. I paid much too much for an extra set of (rubber) seals from Steine-Dinse a few years ago with the expectation that they would become unobtanium. Knowing the metal cups can be adapted is that much better. Mine are slightly mugged up from a previous owner.
