So with my F1 back on the road I've come up against a puzzle that I never figured out last year when I was riding the motorcycle a lot.

The front OE brakes were never known for having massive stopping power but they should be fine for mildly spirited street use. The front brake lever on my machine is pretty squishy and I can get it to come almost all the way back to the grip if I squeeze hard enough. Granted, it stops the bike ok, but it's a little disconcerting to have it so spongy when riding fast.

I've never figured out how to bleed the brakes with the front wheel installed, and of course, without the front wheel installed, the pads have nothing to squeeze against. Does anyone know what the factory recommended procedure was for bleeding the front brakes? Do I install a spacer between the pads and bleed them with the front wheel off the machine? There's virtually no room for a wrench on the bleeder nipple with the wheel and fender installed.

How do you bleed the brakes on your F1?

Ciao!
