I did the shut down of my F1 for the winter but I forgot to shut one gas valve
Now my crankcase is full of gas.
I just flush everything, I don't know if I need to do something special before I refill it with oil.
Thank you
Carl

Carl, this happend to me many years ago, what i did was drop the oil, put some cheap light oil in pulled the plugs disconnected the igntion and turned it over to pump the oil around, then dropped the oil.
It may have been overkill but I never had a problem.
Good luck Paul

Oh, and after you do that, make sure you drain any fuel that might be in the exhaust header before you fire it up. I almost burned my F1, and maybe my garage, to a crisp; I cranked it over and it shot fire like an Army flame thrower onto a nice new stack of baseboard trim. Had to use the nearby fire extinguisher, and then quickly clean everything up before the wife returned. The trim was fine, and my wife never knew. The rear Marvic still has a slightly "toasty" hue compared to the front. True story. MikeV

Make sure that you pull the spark plugs and crank it over with the plugs out (ignition disconnected of course). If there is fuel in one of the cylinders you can hydro-lock the motor and bend a connecting rod. Other than changing the oil/filter you shouldn't have to do anything else.

Mike, I have just read your post, I nearly spilt my tea laughing so much at that story. Once Elaine went out for what I thought was a long time, she returned early and found a cylinder head in the oven !. O'h dear !!

I forgot to respond to his friend Carl, in Italy, there is a particular oil, which cleans inside the engines for a long time and are still dirty, then the procedure is the one who said his friend in the previous message.

However, it is not to underestimate this type of accident, because if the flame goes where it should go, the problems are very serious.

All's well that ends well.

it is nice to talk with you.

Happy New Year to all. Carlo and Antonella.

Well, my wife did find me cleaning a Guzzi oil pan and other aluminum parts in the dish washer once. You've got to try different things some times. MikeV
