as I was removing the crank case cover a plastic puck about about the size of a penny 1/4" thick dropped out and I cant see where it goes? Any thoughts.

at first I thought it was a magnet but now I think it's a float. Any way I want to put my bike back together and this mystery is holding me up.

Sounds like one of the cooling fin damper buttons. They are stuck between the fins to reduce noise. With time and many heat cycles they shrink and get brittle then fall out, causing questions like yours.
