I'm trying to start my F1 with a 600 SL-engine after it has been tucked away for two years. Battery has been charged every couple of months, and looks to be in fine condition (by the diagnostic in the charger). The bike was working OK when I stored it away. Has been stored in a warm garage.
Turn ignition key on, everything looks OK. Turn on the RUN switch, the dash go slightly more dim. Guess the ignition circuit draw some current. Press the starter button. The dash goes more dim, but not a click or anything from the starter. Just the disappointing sound of silence...
My first reaction was to top up the battery during the night. Same again.
1. Can I test with a car battery,or will that fry something up? 2. What next?
If the battery is OK, I suspect bad connection somewhere, any tip on where to look first would be appreciated.
Thanks Roy

The symptoms suggest a bad battery. The cells will sulfate if the battery sits unused for an extended period and will seem OK until a load is put on it. Jumping the bike off a car battery won't hurt anything, just make sure the polarity is correct and the jumper cables don't short on anything. You may have some carb issues depending on the quality of the fuel and if it was stored with fuel in the float bowls.

You,ll probably have done it,but just in case, make sure the earth cable from battery is good and clean. Also live lead to starter motor.
