I am using the brake lines you see in the photo.

The bottom section does the rotating/clamping, the top section stays static.
I have tried one and (as you can see now) two washers but it is leaking from between the two sections of the bolt. :(

what am i doing wrong?

thanks, Sean

if you remove the washers how far does the fitting screw in? i'm sure i've had that where the threaded section is too long. can you turn down the end of it in a lathe or just cut it down?

Your description sounds like the leak is between the crimped section and the rest of the fitting[the hex] that screws into the caliper. If that is the case a new hose is in order. If the leak is out from around the copper washer then the threaded portion of the fitting may be too long as Brad has said.

Brad you might be on it. i tried fitting without the washers and it was pushing the fitting out.
strange how you cant think when brake fluid is running all over your wheels....

Ciao,I have a similar problem but with a different result, the brake hose, to my Montjuich, did not leak, but yet he moves, if I could find new original pipes, I could change them, you believe that the market can possibly be found? In Italy I would not know where to look for them if not to the markets by buying them used.

just a follow up.

the brakelines dont need sealing washers, they seal the fitting up against the hole in the caliper.

what i had was a touch of corrosion on the face of the base of the hose fitting.

a cleanup and some hydraulic "honey" and they have come up good.

thanks all!
