Friends Sorry if I was intruding in your discussion, but Bill, he was talking to myself? You're talking about rear shocks or disk brakes? Sorry but I can understand about 50% of your speeches, I'm sorry if I do I waste time. I would like to make an observation: Many times I see that you Americans, Italian or not, you rely a lot on serial numbers and production numbers. Surely it is a very good thing, but you do not forget that the Ducati is an Italian company, and the Italians are able to adapt to any circumstance. When was the production of the Scrambler, started with the project, then at the end of the project, the bikes were assembled with parts that had to balance, so I can assure you that the Italians can not be much fiscal, of course our fault. This is a humble opinion of an Italian, so you do not take me too seriously. Italian Carlo

Here's the NGK cap on my '86, think it's original, but I can't be 100% sure. Looks like the one pictured on p. 63 in Falloon's "Ducati Belt-Drive Two-Valve Twins", but further away pictures seem to show different caps. I'll bet a buck various ones were used during production. Bill

Carlo, I mentioned you because I thought you made very nice disc brake rotors and carrier assemblies. Was I correct? Bill

Hi Guy's, my early f1a for lack of a better designation had a galvanized steel spark plug cap. It was original as I have seen them when new. Does this sound right? Lou

Lou, from what I can tell, the galvanised unit is the period correct one - this is what I'm trying to get a photo of. Clinton

Thanks Lou, I'm particularly keen on any identifying marks that may help me locate a couple. I believe a lot of early Yamaha's used something similar - maybe even the same units. Clinton
