Hi Brian,
Back in 2000, when I heard that the stock F1 dampers had a reputation for locking up, I replaced it with the Shindy/Daytona one. It has worked fine ever since. The body could probably be sprayed black so it would look more original on a F1. I use different length ones on the TT and 250, and it's a good thing they're pretty economical because I've had to replace a bunch of them due to getting bent in various crashes. Definitely would recommend them.

Thanx. I had read that the stock damper had issues, probably why this bike doesnt have one. Ive got two Daytonas now on other bikes and have been happy with their performance including having rebuilt one.

And here is a good price for the perfect fit from some nice guys, even if they still ride Gootsies. http://www.mgcycle.com/product_info.php ... ts_id=2907

I think the gootzies have come up short again. Be careful on that one, the o.e.m. F1 damper has 85mm stroke.

I think it sneaks in, depending on where the leg clamp is set. MikeV
