Oh, the feeling you get when the clouds finally part, the sun is shining, and your paint looks like glass. Really nice job Mike.

We have had a lot of cold rain, so this is what i have been up to during the “blackout”:

No matter what i have done or tried, the fiberglass tank leaks with the double filler on it. After a month or so just the fumes of one gallon of gas made it bubble up and ruin my paint job, again. So i decided that putting that part on my leaking aluminum tank, and adding a new bottom to that was the answer. Oh if only i could TIG weld…….

I have survived, if not all the dimes were beautifully lined up. I did struggle at times, but no burn throughs! This was tough because this tank was somewhat asymmetrical, and short some material on the sides. So double passes were needed. Yes, there will be some body putty on it. But it has a future.

Good job Mike!!!!

I fear I may have the same issue on the GioCaMoto bike I am trying to get going. Will that 40 year old fiberglass tank hold up, and if it does, will the paint go away/bubble shortly thereafter??

I suggest race fuel only, VP C-12. At least you have a shot. Clean and Caswell if it is dry and unused, it might help. Lou

Red Coat works. Malcolm Tunstall sent it to me. Simple. Even on fiberglass. MikeV

Hi Mike.... The stacked dimes elude me as well. At least you have the kahonies to give it a try. I would have been repainting that tank till the end of time.
