Are they Vitaloni mirrors?

I haven't been doing nothing. I decided that after 13 years this bike deserved to look at bit nicer. So sanded down the original clearcoat and resprayed it after a few touch-ups here and there. It is better. And doing a front fender swap.



But also going back to this fiberglass tank, which i actually like more. The aluminum tank had one pinhole in the bottom, evidenced by bubbling paint after a month. But what was worse was the paint bubbling out the top around the 18-screw filler plate. Just like before. So now the glass tank gets a huge plate under the filler plate, and a very wide and thick gasket for that. Trying to eliminate the irregularities caused by so many bolts. Maybe two gaskets will keep the fumes at bay, or at least off the paint. Time will tell.



Also did a bunch of routine checks, maintenance, and fluid changes. Kinda fun. Relaxing even.

No more painting this year, except for frame and wheels on the NCR Pantah frame.

Hi Mike, what are you using for gasket material, and do you use anything to dress the gaskets, like Leak Lock? Gas sucks. These are some pictures I found online. Lou

I am using gasoline-tolerant gasket material from NAPA. But i have used similar other stuff, with no help. And i have applied a Prestone gasket “dressing” this time - never heard of such a thing before. There are now about 2,000 different-colored squeezy tube silicone gasket materials out there on the sales rack; most are gluten-free, some have Vitamen C added. Funny, but this is the only fuel filler that has ever caused me such trouble. And i let both tanks sit out for over a month for the paint to cure before i install. All others are fine, even the two side-by-side fillers on the F1/TT1 bike.

This part is just cursed, i tell ya.
