Leaking seals in the 43mm Paiolis. Never rebuilt a set of these, and never want to again. Amazing how the online repair manual (the copy in the kit is for a 46mm) says “using force” to pull the pipe spacer down, but never mentions a tool or provides one in the repair kit. I don’t think that even the Hulk could do that with bare hands. Now i am worried that it will come apart but never go back together. I will listen to any suggestions. MikeV Attachment:

PS: Bingo. I need straps with ratchets! Just like we used in the Inquisition.

The tie downs with ratchets worked. I still think there are a few more parts here than the manuals show. MikeV Attachment:

Not hard to find them, just tricky. You cannot use 43mm seals or dust wipers for a Marzocchi fork because the OD on those is 54+mm. The OD on the Paiolis parts is 55+mm. So 43mm forks from a Japanese bike work. And then there are several thicknesses. But i got it worked out. Actually got one of the legs back together today - after a few back-tracks on the assembly. This actually worked. Not as recommended in the Piaoli manual. Second one was easier. Still hope to not do again. Tired. MikeV Attachment:

Good job Mike there aren't many of those forks around.......I bet there isn't more than a person or 2 on this list that have ever worked on them. You are the new Paioli North America Tech Rep...... Clay

The forks are much better now. No leaks, less collapse on braking. But i am not taking calls for repairs. Clay sent me this great sticker, for which i have found an appropriate place on the tail of “the mutt”. A very small number of you may remember this character. MikeV Attachment:

Ha.ha.......the Rat Fink!!!! It's funny, for about 3 decades I have put a little fink decal on every bike I get. Kinda like a little good luck charm or something. I don't really know why or how I started to do that but it has continued for years.......something when I was young must have attracted me to the fink Clay

Fantastic! I had a nice rat fink t Shirt when I was a kid. You could buy iron on ones and make your own! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
