I have returned to this. But i remain undecided.

If i add provision for dual shocks to use the aluminum swingarm then i will have to remove/replace the muffler hanger, which is not a problem for a monoshock. It took some “creative” welding to do. If i can modify the aluminum swingarm for a monoshock all will fit without conflicts. The risk is the process of welding.







If i persist with the steel swingarm then the problem of the wide hubs on these EPMs remains. So i can either find narrower wheels, or modify the left side of the hub and the inside sliding block. I am certain i can remove a total of 5-6mm there, and move the wheel left - now i am very close to center, and using a ruler for alignment the chain path looks good. The right side is still tighter than i prefer for a moving caliper holder with a trailing rod, but i guess than can be solved when i get there. I am now leaning in doing it this way - just stubborn.









The shocks used for fitting are 13 inches long, and i like the angle of the arm better. I have a good monoshock of that length. May add the brackets for dual shocks anyway before painting the frame; some come that way. Leaves open the option to change my mind…..again.

Q: has anyone ever used a combo dual- mono-shock (3) swingarm? I have seen four brake calipers used up front - on a Ducati. For an amateur if one is good then more is better. Right?

There's a saying that goes, "There's no accounting for taste." I don't see that recreation with an aluminum swingarm and dou ble shock absorber.

They were done both ways. I even have a photo of one race bike that started out dual shocks and then got converted to mono. Here is just some dry fitting. Kinda fun but then you see more problems, er, i meant challenges. Looking at this i see a lot of work to catch up with Lou and the Moretti. Unless he runs back to the Alcoa. MikeV

Indeed, there is documentation stating that NCR offered this kit for both monoshock and dual-shock setups.

No, i do not. And like the different colors of gold used on Campagnolos over the years, and the gold anodize used on Brembo parts, and the paint on Marvic wheels, i suspect it varies. Others have asked that, and i think no definitive answer found. Once Lou told me he made a practice of buying cans of paint see how close he could get to originals. MikeV

I have a pair of old Beymag; of all the gold shades I’ve seen, it’s the most beautiful, in my opinion.

Amazing how long it takes to assemble a pile of parts, put them together and make them fit. Especially if other things might work more easily. But i really wanted to use this unique Goldline rear master cylinder, and the one-of-a-kind shaved gold Brembo caliper, along with this Brembo caliper carrier, and the handmade-made-by-Lou brake trailing rod. All finished off with a set of Carlo’s NCR-style rearsets. Looks like something from the era to me. I feel good about how they will assemble in the end. Just fit in under the bodywork, and room for the tire. MikeV
