Well, I shocked myself and have nearly completed the transition to a street bike. Found everything I needed in the mystery wiring harness and found a place for them. Everything necessary to street it works. It was a good class in motorcycle electrical. I have to dink around with a few more details, but I may take it out for a ride the first dry day here. To me this looks like a 1970-80s Bol D'Or participant or other endurance racer. A good way to take it off the track I think. MikeV

Mike, brilliant job, looks great,,,,,
You will enjoy that if you have some good twisty roads near you.
(but, and it’s a small but) change the tail light to a smaller one.
Look at what is available there for trailers. Stop / tail. Smaller.....

Regards
Graeme

Hello Graeme. I knew that tail light would bother some. I think I should have mounted it 2 inches higher — like a Laverda SFC! Or use two of them?

Hello Paul. Just look at a P38 Lighting, and visualize a transverse cross bar on the fairing/tach bracket, with two longitudinal tubes on the ends, and smaller tubes that slide in and out of the latter. Welded on an 8x1.25mm nut, and then a thick flat washer to the small tubes for the lights to bolt to, and drilled all for small clevis pins. Wires put thru the cooler screen. Disconnect the wires, pull the pins, and pull out the lights to remove the fairing. The endurance race bikes always look a bit cluttered there, so this seems good enough to me. Will post some photos in a while.

Also, I like having the fuse box out in the open; just look at the stuff visible on a Bol d’Or race bikes, and even the 70s bevels. No side covers needed here. Need to lower the clipons 1/8th inch to clear the left-hand hi-beam toggle. And will add one or two idiot lights. Trying to figure out some kind of rear mudguard, and what kind of mirrors to use.

MikeV

Very cool......I like it.

On the tail light.....man thats a tough one......on one hand I like it, old school italian light. On the other, it is big. It would be really cool if you could trim the depth of the lens somehow.
