;) I started looking for a nice light track bike that someone took their time to develop into a great machine.
I found one!
It has a few nice Ducati parts on it!
The sos was built and raced by a guy in Michigan, then sold to another fellow.
The new owner had retired his supermono and bought this to race.
His life got busy and it never happened, so I bought!
Since the bike had sat for quite a few years I set about going over everything and saw some things that needed to be improved upon(made lighter)
I didn’t like the colour of the wheels so I changed that!
Tigcraft frame
Rotax powered 517cc
Twin 35mm fcr carbs on a modified head.

Paul and I text everyday about projects. As nice as this looks, Paul is taking it to another level of quality. Great job my friend! Lou

Merry Christmas to you Paul. Glad to see you will remain in the saddle. That is beautiful. Somewhere I have seen this bike - I think - not sure where. The two carbs on one head is interesting; is it a four-valve head? Show us that when you have time. Must be itching to try it out. MikeV

PS: Something like this is why I built the mongrel bike on the 900M frame. But this is a high level of simplicity.

Thanks for all the comments!
Mike the head was done by barebones in Colorado, it is a 4 valve head single cam.
The original builder tried a water cooled twin cam head, but found it was too much work to keep it going.

The build was well thought out, I found there was a lot of steel used at the time, I imagine it was what was available in the shop at the time.
The upper fairing support was a good example, 1 inch steel tube welded, with 3/16 steel plate for the coil and igniter box. The side supports are held on by a r clip in a 5/8 diameter steel tube that runs though the frame.

I am slowly going through and replacing steel with aluminum as well as using some ti fasteners.

I found the front rotor spacing was off, when I had the wheel off I noticed sone well made spacers (tight fit) to the hub, thankfully was in the right direction so I could remove them and take 0.5mm off each one.
There are also a few places that had a nut and bolt, I put a helicoil in so no nut required.
Lotsa small things.
I removed the desmoquattro decal and put a rotax one in its place.
Next up is to find a new place for the shock reservoir out of sight but accessible.

I can’t wait for spring!!

Mike you should come to Grattan this year give it a go!!

Paul

That's really cool........I love that bike. I am no Ducati Super Mono expert. But on the outside, it sure looks like one to me!!!!

The use of heavy gauge steel reminds me of when I used to watch Orange County Choppers. A show about how not to build a bike.
