That is a sad sight Boucher. The only good things is no burned-down houses in sight. But the loss of animal life must be high. Several places in northern California have been burned down too in the past few years. I hope it is green again when you go back in five years.

Yes, hearing about the enormous amounts of animals killed and the huge numbers of acres affected makes it hard to understand where the borders for being safe can be. Also heard there were suggestions of moving Australian Open, that is in Melbourne, isnt it?

We had our by far biggest forest fires here in 2018, firemen came in from all EU, water bombing planes from Italy and so on. But that is a candle compared to what you have.

I did probably 100ks of dirt in and around the area. Burnt sawmills, a lot of burnt houses and sheds. But the one thing that stuck even after a few weeks was theres no wildlife. A few stray crazy looking cows wandering about and that was it. Boucher.

Horrible to se such devastation, looks like a scene from a movie.
Hopefully all our forum friends are a distance away from the fires.

Really sad Chris. Fires in California because of tremendous drought. Earthquake today in Puerto Rico like they needed more problems. Good wishes and a safer New Year to all our Forum friends affected. Lou

Burning through the backroads on the psycho. Marvellous what some H2O and sunshine does to the land over 12 mths. Boucher.

Well, that is a damned sight better than one year ago! Did you see much animal life there? I love your quirky little drop bears.

Q: Are most of your roads that “rustic”? Makes for a lot of cleaning when you get back. But you get a lot of dirt-track flat-track practice too.

When you see the devastation of your land, where you grew up, where you live, it is a wound that makes the heart bleed, my father, who passed away a few years ago, he said to me, nature fixes itself, it is inexorable , because nature favors time, my father always told me, if you leave a paved road, in perfect condition, and don't let the traffic go on it, within a year the grass begins to advance and swallows it , makes it disappear, I hope the translation is optimal, I would like to tell you many things, but my ignorance does not allow me, and sometimes I give up commenting.
A hug to everyone.
Carlo.
