After a search of over Twenty Years I THINK I may have located the Ron Williams/Maxton modified Pantah frame that I used when I built the 600cc F2 Pantah for TR to win the 1981 F2 TT.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I do not think that this is a hoax, however I await the photographs............

Good luck with the search, we wait with bated breath for the re-discovery of perhaps the most famous Pantah of all!

Hello Pat. This is really neat. I hope that if it is "the one" you will pass some photos to us. Of course, now I will have to modify my project once we see the real deal. MikeV

Hi Mike,
If this is the "real deal" I will post photographs etc. may not be able to get it through as hand luggage when I come to Barbers in October though.
Regards,

Pat.

I said in my posting in June that I was pretty certain that after a twenty year hunt I thought I had found the 1981 Maxton modified Pantah frame that TR rode to victory in the 1981 IOM F2 TT. Well................I have been duped !, yes, well and truly led up the garde path !. I asked the guy who emailed me and told me that his father owned the frame and many of the original parts, if I could visit him to see the various parts, after a lengthy wait I contacted him and was told that his father would not let anybody see the frame or indeed any of the parts, I asked if he could at least send me some photographs, I was told NO. To cut a very long story short I eventually found out from a friend of mine that the frame that this guy owned was in fact a bog standard Pantah frame complete with front forks and Brembo brake callipers ! and a pair of 36mm Del orto carburettors . Apparently he was sold the frame etc as the genuine TR/Pantah frame, he still thinks that it is the genuine one !!!!. The search continues .

Oh shame... especially for the poor codger who is in denial about what he owns (or dosn't own - more to the point).

Pat, What do you know about the succession of owners of the bike after it passed from your hands?

Cheers,
Mike,

Sports Motorcycles Ltd closed at the end of 1982 and I lost contact with the bike. I heard later that it was sold. I saw it again at a race meeting in 1983 and it had been crashed once or twice and looked very sorry for itself. After that I never saw it again, I was told that it was still racing in 1985/6.
