Post subject: | Building a Coincidence |
Hoi, About 25 years ago in the mid '80's my brother Ted used to race a Pantah engined bike in the BOTT class in the Netherlands and i always followed his progress as a little boy. First he used the standard framed bike, but soon he discovered that the frame and gearbox where not build for the task of racing. He modified the standard frame, but wasn't happy about it's performance. In the second year he built a frame in the workshop of Ed Pols owner of the Guzzi Dealer Motortoer. This bike was very low and was modified a lot. The next winter we were building a second frame. This bike had an highly tuned 600cc engine and was used in the F2 and F1 classes. The most important memory i have about this bike is that it was raced at the streetcircuit Hengelo in the F1 class and could stay with some of the 4-cilinder bikes on the fast bits But it also used to breakdown a lot. Now after about 20 years of racing a KTM engined Supermono myself, i'm looking for a new challenge. So we put our heads together and had a good look at classic bike racing. and came up with this: We are starting to build a replica pantah racebike. It will be based on the factory pantah's Copyright by Rudolf Wasner and Tony Rutters TT pantah from 1981. Copyright by Magazine PS The frame will be based up on the NCR pantah frame, for sale in the mid 1980's. It will be build on a frame jig with the experience from previous bike's into it's dimensions. We have fixed the headstock on a stick and attached it to a stealbeam, put a cracked crankcase from Ted's good old days that was still laying around in my mother's Garage into the right spot and the building has started. We are Feiko, Ted and Remco. Copyright by Magazine PS/Slinn With this bike we would like to take part in classic endurance events such as: - 4,5H Classic Team Endurance at Oscherleben - Deccla 6H Classics Endurance Race at Cartagena - 4H of Spa Classics at Spa Francorchamps - 3H classic Endurance at Speedweek Oschersleben Oh and for anyone how is wondering why the name coincidence, that's what my brother used to call his bikes in the urly 80's if i remember correctly More progress will follow as soon as i have found out how to get my pictures resized, online somewhere and then up here Groet remco |

The second bike had the first home build frame. If i look at it now i can hardly belef that Ted would have fitted on this bike. And i don't think it did go around the corners very well:

Third bike had a new frame that was a lot higher. The frontbrake plates where made by me at school, after classes i got permission to use the millingmachines at the MTS Hendrick de keijser.

Remco, I remember we met there. I am building a TT600 pantah framed thing too, but I will be altering a standard pantah frame too begin with. And we are building a TT1 verlicchi framed bike too and that one has to be completed first so I will be following your project close. Jarno |

Very nice project! I am building a TT inspired bike on the base of a 93' 750ss, what I really want though, is a pantah and do an early tony rutter bike. Alas, Pantahs are extremely scarce in Denmark, and the ones that show up are to nice to cut up. I will follow your project closely! Best regards Jonas Lysgaard Copenhagen Denmark |
