Hi guys Here's a link to a photo of my race bike. http://www.italian-motorbikes.com/le%20 ... del-82.gif It's got an original DASPA frame with a Mille engine that has Pantah heads grafted onto it, 41mm Dellortos, 1979 TT bodywork & fairing, Marzocchi forks from a Bimota, and Suzuki RGV wheels brakes & swingarm. It weighs 162 kgs and goes well. My next project is going to be based on a roundcase Sport replica with Sport Classic wheels and 50 mm right way up Paoli forks from a Bimota YB11. It will be great. Hello Stephen, What cams did you use? The Pantah heads would spin the cam the opposite direction than a bevel? (or am I wrong?) So using Pantah cams the ramps on the lobes would be rotating the wrong direction? Maybe using the cams from a late belt rear head and turning them around would get the lobes the right way? graeme |

Just found out how it's done, I think? Long cam shaft and have the bevel gear out board of the verticle bevel= the cam runs the opposite direction to a bevel cam? Thus the boxes on the bevel covers.??? Nice bike. graeme |

Hi Graeme You are absolutely correct. The cylindrical extensions on the bevel covers house an outrigger bearing that's mounted in them to support the bevel gear that sits outside the vertical tower. In that way the head and bottom end work with each other - because as you suggest the bevel & Pantah engines spin oppsite to eachother. I can't take any credit for it though, as the engineering was done by Pete Smith from a firm called Epicycle on behalf of a shop in Sydney called Saftune in the mid to late 80's. I raced the bike for a very short time in the early 90's then bought it from the estate of Mike Saffell who ran Saftune. He passed away in about 1994, and Ian Gowanloch put it back together for me. It has a 900 close ratio gearbox, the Sassi dry clutch, Hi Comp pistons, steepened valve angle in the heads, big valves and (I think) F1 cams. I've left the charging system on it because I got caught once with a battery that went flat at the worst possible time during a race - very embarrassing. It doesn't really meet any class guidelines anymore with the upside down forks and 4 piston calipers, but I don't care. I like it like it is. And it sounds like a bevel but revs like a big Pantah...
