Yeah, green to exhaust, black to intake. But once they were all black. Maybe just new works. MikeV

After more investigation I decided to drop the motor yesterday, pulled the vertical head off this morning and took it apart, intake seal had a pretty good cut in it( blame it on the builder Valve guides are ok, debating if I should get new ones installed and lost the originals.

Gosh Paul. You found what seems to be the [obvious] problem. Why do just one guide? And if it is good. Or just one of the heads? Besides, new guides mean grinding the seats again! And re-shimming. And maybe touching the valves. And, and, and..... A little bit less on everything left after. Lazy MikeV
PS: Might have to re-dial the cams too!
See those little triangular flashings hanging inside up top near the upper bolt holes - i grind those off every head i get near. Been sliced and diced too many times.
I see you said “guides”. My bad. But still….

Mike, the horizontal head is apart as well now, the intake valve had a hot spot on it so both heads are now getting new guides as well as seats, the valves are sunken in quite a bit, I don’t have any history on the motor. I have time Paul

Ok. Sounds justified now. Time, and money, will fix a lot. MikeV

Filippo, No modifications were required to the triple clamps, the heads should be back next week from having new valve guide installed and the intake ports matched to the intakes. Paul

Heads arrived at the end of last week, both exhaust valves were replaced, new guides installed, seats cleaned up and intake ports cleaned up and matched to the manifolds. Not sure what caused the issue with the exhaust valves, all good now!
