I'll venture a guess and say that those square section O-rings aren't something you can just go and buy at the local Ace Hardware store.

Actually Flattop, not as bad as I imagined. Mcmaster-Carr sells 3mm square o-ring stock as well as the glue and accelerator. So I made my own and I'm happy to say not loosing any air! Lou

Hi Brad, They are heavy, but not quite as heavy as an OEM aluminum wheel. This choice was mostly aesthetic. The original Marvics on the bike were much lighter. Made some progress. Fit a chain, made a rear brake line, put the front wheel together. Tomorrow I will mount the tire, safety wire, and finally put on the new rotors. From the pictures you will see the seam in the square ring, the sealant I used and how it squeezed out of the seam when tightened. In the picture the sealant is still wet, you can see I just push it into the seam and smooth it out. A helpful hint when I fit the square ring in the groove I cut it about a quarter of an inch too long. When you fit the square ring, you pull it along carefully but it still stretches. It will shrink. Cut it longer Then glue together. It will be a nicer fit. Lou

That wheel is really beautiful in the aluminum finish, all those fasteners around it and then all safety wired up....WOW

Finished the front wheel and was so excited to finally see the rotors on the wheel. Perfect fit? One problem, the Ti flanged bolts just touched the vertical edge of the rotor carrier! 16mm flange, looked on the Probolt site and ordered some new hardware, 15mm flange. Wish me luck, I'll get them Saturday. Thanks Clay. Lou

Glad you caught that Lou. I have seen a lot of F1s with gouged floater buttons, because the top caliper bolt is too long - it sticks out on the inside. It is sure to happen if you ride in the rain, because the buttons will not be tight enough (lack of heat), and the rotors stay too loose. Did that twice to my F1 before I figured it out. MikeV

PS: Is that a 300mm disc?

The brake disc seems so close to the edge of the rim, the brake caliper will naturally turn free.
