I am using 36mm Lectrons because that is what was on the No. 8 F2 Pantah. The rules limited them to that size. They have been professionally rebuilt (lot of new parts to good bodies), but now Steve has me worried. I have never used them before, and may bring a set of 36mm Dellortos to Barber for backup. Hello Pat. They are just another thing I have never dealt with on a bike that has never run. At least with Dellortos I have plenty of jets and slides and other things to get into trouble with. But these Lectons should be good to go. MikeV

Hi Mike, yes I can understand your concern. When the guy who imported lectrons into the UK in 81 asked me if I would try them on " No 8" I was at first reluctant. He supplied a box of jets and slides and all kinds of bits with them, so the setting up was made a lot easier. They worked well from the moment the bike was fired up, TR loved the light throttle action, and he said that the carburation was clean all the way through the range. When Franco Farne saw them on " No 8" at the Ulster GP he was impressed, and I arranged for a set to be sent to him at Bologna. I know that they tested them because I saw them on a engine on the Dynomometer. However I did have the Dell'ortos with me in the IOM !...already set up !!. Looking forward to seeing you and your bike at Barbers.

Thanks Pat. I have posted photos of the front calipers and adapters in Addenda 6. It stops---at least in the driveway---under my power.

Hello Pat: We will get to the Hamptons in Trussville (close to the track) late Thursday night. We should all stumble into each other on Friday somewhere. One more wire (with fuse) to add to the electrical system, and paint the fairing (over the next three days), and then wrap it up (the small relaxing details, and maybe some re-dos). It is my understanding (according to some on this board) that we will actually get some sleep where we are staying, because all the roudy people will stay at the Ducati Hamptons. Try not to stay up too late. Cheers, MikeV

Addenda 7: Houston, we have ignition! It seems that the electrical is complete, without any sparks or burned parts. Thanks to Lou and Steve for the diagrams; they were useful, even if just to show how many ways to set things up. Also noted that the oil level went down in the site glass as I gave the engine some test spins, and that my finger popped out of the spark plug holes; those are good signs. Last major task is now to paint the bodywork. And then I get to relax and tinker with it. Even found a more-correct small Lockheed rear caliper, and may get to rebuild it in time. I hope these are the last photos of the naked bike. Well, I got all the bodywork base-coated without any glitches. It is good for a race bike of the era, and some parts are as good as came on my 78 Lemans; I very satisfied with it. Will do the clear coat today and place it on the bike on Sunday. Meanwhile, the spark to the vertical cylinder went away, and all my attempts to find it have failed so far. MikeV

Hey, Pat:

You'll need them if you're anywhere near me..

This forum will have a 20x30 tent right next to the main NCR display at Ducstock, so you'll be able to find most of us there. Look for our banner..
