I am in the process of doing a 17" wheel swap on my race Pantah. For the front I am using a cbr600rr front wheel, 3 spoke and it even has the proper sized bearings for the marzocchi axle! For the rear, (I didn't take cranky's advice, but I got a wheel, rotor, and sprocket for only $70), and went with a monster 620 3 spoke unit. The rear hub is pretty wide but with some machining it will be close to fitting.
My question is this, can the rear wheel on a Pantah be fitted without using the 2 inner aluminum swingarm plates? The old roundcase 750 gt's used to mount their rear wheels in this manner using only two outer plates. Ditching the inner ones would give me a ton of extra room.
Thanks Dave

I guess with a race bike you can do anything that will work. I do know you can mill the plates much thinner, as on the TT900SS project. I had to do that for clearance. There is a photo somewhere in that thread Dave. MikeV
PS: I could not find the photo!
